Future Friday ~ Flower Pin

One of my closest friends has a sweet little baby girl. We spent this past Thanksgiving with her and her family. While we were thanking and feasting, I noticed on her little headband was this great little flower clipped on it. BOOM! Innov8ive Knit's new line is born (in thought at least)

People do this all the time, clip bows and flowers to those little scrunchy headbands for baby girls. It's quite genius, and so simple I can't believe I didn't think about this earlier.

Remember this hat?
This is that precious ball of inspirational sunshine I was talking about by the way. Innov8ive Knit's next new flower clip is going to look a whole lot like this flower. Except smaller and attached to a great ribbon covered clip and all kinds of fun centers!

I currently have in the mail on it's way to me several new colors with this project's name all over it. Keep on the lookout for these to hit my Etsy store soon. Pre-orders are available (contact me) for details. I am thinking of selling individuals and doing deals on sets of 3's and sets of 5's.

This isn't the only flower style making it's way to the new baby clip line, it will make it's Future Friday debut soon.

I am dying to hear your opinions on this, and what colors you want to see these in first! Comment away.

Future Friday ~ Pinwheel Ear Warmer

http://www.etsy.com/transaction/63714253

I have mentioned this project before but I wanted to introduce it on it's own. I have had SEVERAL requests to make this and I am so glad to announce I have the pattern in my library now.

I currently am working hard to tackle all kinds of custom orders to get done by Christmas, but this is high on the list of things to come. I already have a couple of orders for this for Christmas, and have a pile of yarn coming in for stock with this project's name all over it!

On top of adding this to my list of things that Innov8ive Knits will offer, I have been considering making some modifications to the pattern to allow for a more versatile look.

In the future I plan on adding a button to this headband that can be popped through the center hole of the pinwheel flower to make it interchangeable. After the first few I make in the original style, I will be making SETS to go for sale that will include one neutral colored headband with the button as well as a couple of different colored flowers to change it with.  This item will easily go with everything in your wardrobe! This is a very exciting addition and modification. I can't wait to get my hands on that yarn and have it hit the store! Keep on the look out for posts announcing it's arrival.

Because of my schedule, this will most likely not hit the store before Christmas. If you are interested in purchasing one as a Christmas gift, this can be done! Message me, and I will get with you on colors and other options. Time is running out for Christmas orders, contact me as soon as possible.

Future Friday ~ all about the facial hair

Apparently I have developed an obsession with facial hair. Funny thing is, I hate when my fiance doesn't shave! I've already made a bearded beanie, which is mostly for the men folk. Now I want something fun for the ladies… facial hair for ladies & fun in the same sentence? Why yes I did!

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/incognito

I mustache you a question! Who wants a warm neck and some mustache fun?!?! I do! This is just TOO cute and funny for it's own good! It's an excellent way to keep your neck warm in a super unique way. It is SURE to turn heads. It can be done in a ton of fun colors to suit your wardrobe too.

This will for sure be making it's way to my Etsy store in the near future!

Future Friday ~ Tie Time

http://www.knitpicks.com/cfpatterns/pattern_display.cfm?ID=50604220

I have always thought that knitted ties are just cool looking. Especially skinny ones. Every time I walk into Express I like to look at them (even though I'm a girl and totally don't wear ties). I've never known someone to hand knit one though.

This is something I have been wanting to make for my Etsy store stock for some time and have moved it back several times for custom orders. Now I am busting through projects and it is coming time to make one. I just think these are so great and making one, gives me the option to really customize them. I have a couple color-ways of yarn that I plan on using them in my stash currently: combinations of blues and greens. I also have a super plan of doing an all black tie with one 1" - .05" vibrant royal blue diagonal stripe a few inches from the bottom. Very mod looking.

The plan is so far to dedicate a whole shop section in my Etsy store for ties like this. So once I get one done I will have 2 sections (and more stock)! It is really starting to come together and fill up! I have a loose goal of having 20 stock items in the store before Christmas. Between the wedding planning, work, and custom orders it certainly will be a challenge but I'm up for trying to tackle it!

I have started the bearded beanie for the give away and after that I have one more to make to add to my Etsy stock, and THEN I will make my first tie! BTW these can make excellent Christmas gifts for the special guy on your list this year and can be made in just about any color(s) your heart desires. See the "contact me" tab at the top of the page for custom quotes!

Future Friday ~ Laisse le bon temps rouler SCARF

Thanks to the Facebook input, I have decided to do a Mardi Gras scarf! I was immediately drawn to this pattern when I saw it. It's just so interesting and the beading adds such a fun twist. It wasn't until I started looking for yarn for this scarf did I have the epiphany to make it a Mardi Gras scarf. Here's pictures of what the scarf pattern does:

http://www.ravelry.com/projects/kimfluck/334s-susan-undulating-waves-scarf

Pattern: Undulating Waves
And here's a picture of the yarn I'm gonna use to make it scream Mardi Gras:

Here in Alabama, Mardi Gras is a pretty big event and everyone is always done up right for the ocassion. The weather that time of year is chilly but usually not SUPER cold, so this light scarf is the perfect fix! Everything turns purple, green, and yellow during the holiday. I have enough yarn currently to make 2 of these scarves and plan on having them made just in time for the festivities. I am really looking forward to seeing these 2 elements come together to create  what I invision for this scarf. Not to mention I am going to enjoy making something that is for an adult for a change, unfortunately that means I will have a hard time putting it up for sale. Can't wait to get it started!

P.S. - One more project to go before I begin the bearded beanie for the giveaway!!! Get ready to learn how to qualify for the drawing!

Weekend wrap-up ~ funky flu & Etsy opening

Source: http://my-sweet-sweet-time.blogspot.com/2010/04/late-saturday.html

This week has been incredibly busy! This is exactly how I feel but add a couple tissues up her nose and add some yarn and needles. Juggling a day job and your own business can be very trying at times! I certainly do not feel like I did enough for Innov8ive Knits this week. I've been pulling some extra overtime at my day job for trade shows and inventory. At the end of the week, I managed to catch one of the worst colds I have had in a long time. I don't think I have slept this much in well… ever! I tried to squeeze some knitting while I was on the couch but my head was so fuzzy all the stitches mushed together and when I looked down, I had no idea what I had made!! lol It was best I stopped while I was ahead.

On the bright side, I DID manage to get some things accomplished before it all went downhill! I have officially started putting things on my Etsy store!!! I am building up stock and listings for the GRAND OPENING. I don't have a date picked for it just yet (this depends on how many more custom orders I pick up and how much time I have to work on stock pieces) nor have I decided what I will do to make the GRAND OPENING something special (I'm thinking a special coupon or sale for my blog or facebook followers). I am so proud and excited about it. This really feels like a big move forward for my business, and I hope it really starts to gain traffic. The more I get in that store, the more hits it will get, and the better the chance people will make purchases.

If there is something that you have seen or that I made that you would like to see in the store or you think would be popular let me know! I am always looking for people's opinions. YOU as my follower and customer has the most important input and my ears are ALWAYS open to your thoughts. (or my eyes in this case)

Also I have found someone to model for the Rhythm hat. If I am still not couch surfing this week due to my super awesome cold, I intend to get the photos done for this in the coming week, so be ready to see that. Let me know what your thoughts of this hat are too! Do you like this more traditional hat, and what colors would you like to see in the future? I have been told that a charcoal grey and crimson red would be nice (even though they are Alabama colors).

Believe it or not, I am STILL working on that never ending scarf! I am on my last skein of yarn though so it is finally coming to an end. Next time I make this thing I will pick a bigger yarn for sure!

I decided as well that I have another idea to add to my store categories: baby mobiles! I want to knit tiny themed toys and attach them to different materials to hang over a baby bed. Themes including: stars & moons, safari animals, farm animals, & planes. If you have any other ideas for this I would love to hear them. This is definitely going to hit a future Friday soon when I clear up some projects already on my queue.

There are so many great things up my sleeve and I can't wait to put them out there for the world to see. It's so exciting to see things really start to come together. Now it's just waiting time until I get my first Etsy buy! I am in need of feedback to build credibility. Don't forget to share the growing store with your friends and add it to your Etsy circle. Also keep subscribed to the blog because the bearded beanie Christmas giveaway will be here before you know it and you won't want to miss it!

Future Friday ~ Pinwheel Flower Hat

Hapy Friday! Man have I been looking forward to this weekend! I have been doing SO much this week (mostly for the day job), but those details will come up in the weekend wrap up.
For this Future Friday I am introducing a little girl hat: the pinwheel flower hat. This one is already reserved for a cutstomer but I am planning on making some for the Etsy store in the future. BTW I have recently opened it to start adding products. Look out for a blog in the near future about the grand opening and other details on that.

http://www.etsy.com/transaction/58194124

I am making this hat out of a SUPER soft yarn in a pink and green! I plan on maing a modification to this hat by adding a jewel/crystal of some sort into the center of the flower. I think this will make it POP a little better and give a little more "princess" to the look. Nothing says princess like bling :).

On a side note I already have a model for this hat but I am still looking for a little boy to model the rhythm hat. If you or someone you know may be interested please feel free to message me and pass the info along. (There is a tap at the top of my page to get in touch). Also I am making things all the time for people of all ages, if you are interested for future shoots, I would love to hear from you too!

Future Friday ~ Rhythm Hat

I just LOVE little boy clothes! I had a customer request a clean and simple newborn hat. No fru-fru's, animal faces, etc and something warm too. Hats like this are excellent for everyday wear, not just a photo prop. Sometimes when giving a gift (as in this occasion), you want to give something extra useful. When you are uncertain of a mom's style or they already have a little of everything, a hat like this is just the ticket. In this case less is more. It has unique color-work that puts a fresh attitude to the common hat.

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/rhythm-hat

Pattern: Rythm hat
I plan on using a sport weight 100% peruvian wool yarn. It's a nice wool that is warm and sturdy without being itchy. Being wool it is a hand wash only item. I will be using a denimn blue and a pesto like green colors per my customer's request. I think they will contrast nicely and really pop to show off the work!

As a moderation I plan on making this hat just a tad longer than the pattern calls for. This will give a little extra growing room and assure that it will cover the baby's ears no matter how big his newborn head may turn out to be. The baby will be in a chilly area and we want to make sure his little ears will be nice and warm.

I have been doing a lot of crochet patterns lately and although they work up a good bit faster and have a truly hand made look, I have been really missing my knitting needles these days! I am quite looking forward to popping those pointy needles out and getting to work on this project.

If you were to buy a hat like this, what colors would you like to have???

Future Friday - ROAR! Lion toy

This future Friday's project is a custom order from a local customer. In fact it's a project that I plan to start tackling this weekend.

http://www.etsy.com/transaction/57164587
This is a pattern from one of my favorite Etsy designers- Beezy Mom's Creations. I've decided to do this project in a special yarn made of a tightly wound cotton that makes it durable, absorbent, and washable. As a baby toy, this will need to be washer friendly and a natural fiber that can be in a baby's mouth. This will be filled with fiberfill with a lining around it so the fill cannot be pulled through the stitches.

I'm very excited to add to my portfolio Innov8ive Knits very first toy! If you or someone else are possibly interested in a special hand made toy let me know. I am always interested in new ideas and challenging projects!

Future Friday- yoga/pilates socks

So I've recently decided that I would like to add a line of yoga/pilates socks to Innov8ive Knits lineup of goodies. I have a ton of great new ideas for these, but I had to narrow it down to just one to get started. This is the next thing on my list to knit up!

http://www.ravelry.com/projects/chelseacreature/115-35-yoga-socks-with-cables-in-alpaca-and-kid-silk

The original pattern calls for a blend of two yarns: alpaca and kid silk. For those of you who don't knit, this makes for a very warm, soft, and fuzzy end product. Since it doesn't get terribly cold here in Alabama, and I'm not a big fan of that look I would like to use a different yarn. The end result will be very similar to the look in the above picture.

This makes for a simple, classic pair of socks that depending on the color used can be appropriate for both men and women. There is something so attractive to me about a crisp, clean cable… Now that I think about it, this pattern looks very similar to the cable on my never ending scarf!  When you know what looks you like, you know.

I'm very excited to get started on this project and add to the different types of shop selections.  As a side note here is a list of the "shop selections" I plan to provide via Facebook and my Etsy store:

  • Children/Baby clothes & hats
  • Adult hats
  • Scarves
  • Skinny ties
  • Wedding Veils
  • Yoga/Pilates socks
If you have any opinions/ideas on what color I should use on this Future Friday project please feel free to comment below! Also, I would love to hear from YOU on what you would like to see in the store next. It just might be the next Future Friday topic. :)
